Occupational health services​


Vinnuvernd’s general medical service is a service option where companies, in co-operation with Vinnuvernd, offer their employees medical services in the form of open hours. Vinnuvernd’s physicians receive employees at certain times at Vinnuvernd’s headquarters. For larger companies or organisations that have appropriate facilities, it is possible for a doctor to come to the workplace at certain times and receive employees there.

Our doctors work on an initial diagnosis and guide staff in the appropriate ways to get assistance with their issues. That can vary, depending on the extent and illness of the person concerned. Many issues are of the nature that they can be resolved on the spot, but if our doctors feel the need for further tests or the help of an expert or professional, they will assist the person to get the appropriate treatment.

Please note that this service is only available to employees of companies that are in contract services.

Some of the roles of the general medical service are:

  • Ensuring staff access to an initial examination of a health issue quickly and safely.
  • Initial diagnosis of the symptoms/illness of the employee in question.
  • Assistance with the renewal of prescriptions.
  • Assisting the employee to see a specialist or guidance for the next steps to ensure that they receive the correct treatment for the symptoms/illness in question.

Reception in Vinnuvernd

  • Doctors of Vinnuvernd greet staff at reception Vinnuverndar.
  • Workplaces have a set time each week that their staff can attend to see a doctor. 
  • There is no need to book an appointment in advance, just show up, waiting time can vary, but generally there are two doctors on duty.


Reception at the workplace

  • A doctor of Vinnuvernd has facilities at the relevant workplace, it is important that the workplace offers adequate space for the service along with equipment.
  • The doctor is available either half a day a week or a full day, you cannot buy less than half a day in this service.
  • All staff get access to a booking page where they can book an appointment with the relevant doctor.
