Health and safety plan

Risk assessment

According to Regulation No. 920/2006, a written health and safety plan must ensure that the occupational health and safety activities of the company as a whole will be as targeted as possible. The plan should lay out the company’s policy regarding working environment and health and safety in workplaces. It must give a good overview of risk factors, risk assessment, and prevention to promote the safety, health and well-being of workers. It is intended to prevent and reduce the risk of work-related health damage and accidents. The plan must also include actions that reduce the consequences in the event of damage..

Risk assessment

The entire workplace must be risk assessed. An analysis and assessment of the work conditions with regard to the safety and health of the staff, as well as a summary of the results:

• With interviews and/or questions to management and the safety committee.

•With inspections and/or measurements in the work environment and facilities. Work is carried out according to checklists adapted by Vinnuvernd to different workplaces.

• With an electronic survey for all staff on psychosocial aspects and work environment.

The assessment covers the following categories: Occupational health and safety, hygiene, safety and facilities.

Plan for health protection and preventative measures

A plan for health protection and preventative measures is an action plan based on the aforementioned risk assessment and specifies how to respond to the risks identified in the risk assessment.

This plan includes:

• Registration and action plan

A timed plan for preventative measures (improvements) based on the risk assessment, where responsible parties for improvements are defined.

The plan covers the same categories as the risk assessment: Occupational health and safety, hygiene, safety and facilities.

• Policy and response plan

Policy and response plan for bullying, sexual harassment, gender-based harassment and violence in the workplace (EKKO-policy).

• Emergency plan

An emergency plan that describes measures for: First aid, evacuation plan, fire, natural disasters.

Following up on improvements

When the risk assessment is completed and the registration and action plan is ready, it is important to follow up on the improvements that need to be made. It is the responsibility of management and occupational health and safety representatives to handle the follow-up.
